Sussex Learning Trust appointed by DfE to help disadvantaged learners

Sussex Learning Trust, including Warden Park Secondary Academy and Northlands Wood Primary Academy, has been chosen by the Department for Education (DfE) to provide advice to peers “most in need of support” with technology, including those “getting to grips with using a new online learning platform” and those “with the most disadvantaged learners”.

The initial aim of the programme was to help schools use technology to reduce teacher workload; create efficiencies; improve accessibility; and “ultimately support excellent teaching and learning”. But the DfE says it has since been “refocused” to help support remote teaching during the coronavirus crisis.

Sussex Learning Trust Academies will offer packages of support including guidance, online tutorials, webinars and recorded content.

Jonathan Morris, CEO “I am delighted that Sussex Learning Trust has been recognised in this first wave of funding and the timing is particularly pertinent given the pandemic the country faces. Our knowledge and experience can be put to good use to help local colleagues during this difficult time”.

Apple Distinguished School

Warden Park Secondary Academy are also an Apple Distinguished School recognised for their educational excellence and clear vision for how their technology-rich environments support learning goals.

Dai Thomas, Director of E-Learning ““We are inspired by community connections, real world contexts, our students dreams and the innovative technology at our fingertips.”

Working together

Sussex Learning Trust work together with Sync in many ways and we regard our relationship as a two way partnership. Where Sync provide technology solutions, technical services and support for teachers through structured CPD, we also collaborate, exploring new ideas, continually innovating and improving together.

The Trust’s appointment by the DfE could not be more well deserved and at a time where Sync have recently been selected to help deliver the DfE’s new Platform Provisioning Programme, this is another great opportunity to for us to work in partnership.
